The Modern World (pt 1)

"Look what I found!" These are the words that started this horrible adventure. My name is Katie Lock. I am fourteen years old, and I have short and choppy brown hair, and boring brown eyes. I have three friends; Lilly, she is a daydreamer and very naive. She has blonde hair that is often with messed up ponytails, and she has blue eyes. Jacob is the shy one of our group. He has brown hair like mine, and it's short and messy. He also has green eyes. Lastly, Kyle, he is the sarcastic one who always teases Lilly. He believes in stuff he can only prove. He has black hair that hides his ears, which we tease him about. He has brown eyes and also wears glasses.

One day, I was exploring the forest with my friends when one of my friends, Lilly, noticed a door in the ground. "Look what I found," she called us and opened it up, and nothing happened. "Well that is weird place for a door," my friend Kyle said. "Well I thought something like in Alice in Wonderland..." Lilly replied. "You actually believed that story? Do you still think Santa is real?" Kyle said. "He's not?!" Lilly said back in a worried tone. "Kyle, quit crushing her beliefs, even if they are silly," I said to Kyle. "Whatever," Kyle said shrugging his shoulders.
"Hey, where is Jacob? I thought he was following us," I said. "Jacob? He's over there," Kyle pointed to the clearing up ahead. I ran up to Jacob who looked sick to his stomach. "Something wrong?" I asked him. I crouched down to his level and screamed in shock. His face was all bloody and looked like something has eaten half of it. "Katie? What's wrong?!" Kyle yelled. Jacob turned toward me and started to move towards me. "Get away from me!" I screamed. "Katie, what's going on…?" asked Lilly. I quickly glanced at Lilly and saw the forest change scenery. We weren't in the forest anymore. Instead we were in a technological park, like if steam punk took over. I kicked Jacob in the face and ran away from him as fast as I could, grabbing Lilly and Kyle's arms on the way out. "Where are we?" Lilly said looking around her. "The future…?" Kyle said, "Maybe because you opened that door this happened!" I glanced back over at Jacob. "What are we going to tell his parents?" I asked them. They both exchanged looks and shrugged. I wondered how my parents would react. Even yet, I wondered if I will see them again.
